This is how GT5 should be played

While cruising at the local mall last weekend, I stumbled upon this instalment whose purpose was to, not only draw attention to the races that were taking place on a nearby race track but also to the Gran Turismo 5 Prologue game for Playstation 3.


Nice scenario, right? No, I'm not talking about the car...it's cool, but I was referring to the "game set" that you can see in the picture. Playing GT5 in that is just amazing and that's how it should be...always. The image quality and resolution on that screen were just amazing. I want one of those ;-) But I guess I would have to put in the attic 'cause I guess my wife wouldn't be happy to have this in the middle of the living room.

Anyone knows where I can get one of those?

Stuff's predictions for 2008

Engadget posted on the new gadget from Sony Ericsson that is supposed to run PSP games. They did this based on a scan from the Portuguese version of the Stuff magazine. What they didn't know was that this was a part of a "predictions" article for the new year from Stuff (on the January 2008 issue). Which basically means that the gadgets presented on the article are not real. Instead these are merely wild guests from Stuff's editors based on the evolution of gadget's market. They even used the expression "probability of existence" to denote the probability of these gadgets ever seeing the light of day.

So, being a Stuff subscriber, I decided to read the article again and present here some of those interesting gadgets that Stuff thinks will come up on 2008 (the given percentage is the probability of existence):

• Asus EcoBook - a wood-based (bambu) laptop from Asus (95%)
• iPhone 3G - the 3G version of the Apple touch phone (60%)
• Sony Play TV - Tivo-like service for the PS3 (87%)
• Multi-mouse Apple - mighty mouse with multi-touch technology (62%)
• Casio Hi-Speed - a digital camera capable of capturing 60 (6 Megapixel) pictures per second (84%)
  
• GPS 3D - GPS devices with 3D satellite/airplane photo maps (100% - a Portuguese company already released a product with this technology)
• Your music follows you - a small robot that follows you around the house playing your music (which is accessed from your PC through WiFi) (89%)
• GPS cameras - digital cameras equipped with a GPS sensor to help geo-tag your photos (66%)

CES 2008, one of the best technology events of the world, has just started and lots of new gadgets are being presented there. And for the look of it, 2008 will be an interesting, if not revolutionary, year for the world of technology. Check out some of the news and gadgets that are available at the technology fair:

A very special Playstation 2

A kid from Aylsham, Norfolk (in the United Kingdom) bought a PS2 on eBay for 95 £ (about 140 €, $190) and when he opened the package at home, he was in for a big surprise.

Instead of the two games that he also signed for along with his PS2 there was an extra package with 44 000 £ (around 65 000 €, $ 90 000) in cash.

Now the money is in possession of the Police, who is already investigating the case, but oddly enough the kid said he'd rather have received his Gran Turismo 3 instead of the money.

Ahhh, kids :-)

PS3: price going down, sales going up

By lowering the price of PS3 by just $100 (74 euros), Sony was able to increase its sales rank on Amazon by 2500%.


Maybe Steve Jobs will take this "advice" and lower the price of the iPhone by $100 too.

The reason why Europe won't have 80GB Playstation 3

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president David Reeves has just announced why Europe won't have the 80 Gb Playstation 3 version:

"The larger hard drive only makes sense in a market like South Korea, which has very high broadband penetration and the people there are used to downloading content, so they require a certain size hard drive."

So, apparently we're not downloading enough movies, tv shows, musics, etc.... Huummm... I guess we can fix that! How about starting a new movement called "David Reeves doesn't like Europeans" to unite all Europeans in a global content downloading initiative? Ohh wait, we already have that (and several others)... it's called BitTorrent!

In the meantime, the "competition" (let's call it XBox) is getting his hands-on a 120 Gb version. Way to go, David...!

European PS3 in March!

Playstation 3 will arrive in Europe on March, 23rd and it will cost 599€. Only the 60Gb version of the game console will be released, hence the huge price.

The fighting and looting to get one of the PS3 will be quite interesting since only 1 million of them will be release for the entire continent. Is that enough??
