Geek's license plates

Geeks can always find interesting ways of manifesting their level of g33kness: through famous paintings, by developing cutting-edge applications, by facing mathematical challenges or wearing funny t-shirts. But the real geek is the one that is able to produce a cool license plate.

It only takes 42 minutes to go between any two points on Earth

Well, in theory, at least... It turns out that if you could dig a tunnel that would connect two locations on Earth, for example, between two antipodes, using only the force of gravity, it would only take you 42 minutes to go from the source to your destination. And the interesting part: this is real for any two given points on Earth. Don't believe me? Check out the following video:

I want to believe

No, this post is not about the upcoming X-Files movie. This is only to reveal an important fact about UFO sightings. Ever since Photoshop was released, UFO sightings have suddenly started looking more real and convincing, right? :-)

Apple's answer to the Microsoft's answer to Apple's "Get a Mac" ads

It turns out that Microsoft's answer to Apple's "Get a Mac" ads (hiring Seinfeld to the next Windows Vista's marketing campaign) has already been debunked by an old Apple's "Think Different" ad (I saw it here):

Another interesting gadget to charge your cellphones

There are all kinds of gadgets out there: eco-friendly, all-usb, for workaholics, fashionable and odd-tasting. This one definitely covers all of them.

A team of researchers from Iowa State University have devised a way to make wearable technology slightly more discreet, by creating a solar tie that charges/carries your cellphone.

Microsoft's answer to Apple's "Get a Mac" ads

Everybody knows that Apple has been doing a great job with the "Get a Mac" ads (by the way, there a few new ones that you should have a look at). They're funny and entertaining, but most of all, they show how Mac can be a real (and better) alternative to PCs, especially those with Windows Vista.

But Microsoft is getting tired of this marketing domination and has decided to bring out the big guns. The new marketing campaign, which will star Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates, is said to be based on the idea of "Windows, Not Walls," stressing the need to "break down barriers that prevent people and ideas from connecting." Basically, Microsoft will try to change the public's negative opinion of Windows Vista, for which the Apple's "Get a Mac" ads have made a large contribution :-)

Well, let's wait and see...

So many new world records in Olympic swimming...isn't that a bit suspicious?

I told you that this idea of having Olympic swimmers wear special bathing suits would have quite an impact. Now, the Australia swimming team has beaten the previous world record for 4x200m freestyle with a difference of more than 5 seconds!! Is it a coincidence that ALL of them wore the same special bathing suit? I don't think so.

The only alternative that I see, is that the Chinese organization was wrong while measuring the Olympic pool and it is in fact smaller than it should. Well, it wouldn't be such a surprise if they did this on purpose. Considering that they used pre-recorded songs and virtual fireworks in the open cerimony, I wouldn't be surprised if they did this to bring some extra attention to the Olympic Games in Beijing!! Everything to post a good image of China to the World...
